DEDICATION TO PUBLIC & COMMUNITY SERVICE
Personal History
The grandson of working-class Italian immigrants, John DiBuonaventuro learned the value of a strong work ethic and its rewards at an early age. Raised locally in a middle-class family, he attended St. Thomas Good Counsel Elementary School, Radnor High School and Delaware County Community College. John graduated with a BA in Business Administration from Villanova University in 1978.
Business Success
After college, John joined Purolator Courier Corporation and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming General Manger of its Mid-Atlantic Region at age 29.
In 1988, The Taggart/Fasola Group, a leading specialist in the acquisition and management of distressed transportation companies, recruited John to become their Vice President of Planning, Mergers and Acquisitions.
He joined the Boston Coach Division of Fidelity Capital in 1992 and successfully implemented a turnaround of their Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. operations.
Dedication to Public & Community Service
In 1995, John was sworn in as Tom Ridge's Director for the Governor's Office in Southeastern Pennsylvania. During his years of public service, he worked on legislative, business, community, and local issues. John worked with the Department of Transportation to install the sound barriers on Route 202. He stands ready to do the same with the state's Turnpike Commission to ensure that proper sound barriers are installed on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. John secured our township's visibility in Harrisburg by connecting the Governor to Tredyffrin. In fact, in 1995, Governor Ridge made a special visit to dedicate our new township building at John's request.
John served as a board member on the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau from 1993 to 1996, on the Delaware Valley Planning Commission until 1997, and the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority from 1995 to 2001.
In 1996, John was awarded the Delaware County Community College "Wong Most Distinguished Alumni of the Year" for outstanding success in his profession, extensive service to the community and a commitment to education.
Since leaving state government, John has managed a small personal real estate and investments portfolio. Eager to continue serving his community, and just prior to 9/11, John began his career as a volunteer first responder.
In February of 2001, John co-founded the Chester County Hero Fund. The fund provides support to Chester County first responders who are injured while protecting Chester County's residents, or to the families of those responders who lose their lives in the line of duty. To date, the fund has raised over $350,000, and John continues to serve as its President.
John graduated from the Chester County Fire Academy in 2002 and completed his EMT and Vehicle Rescue certifications. Currently, he is an active volunteer EMT and firefighter with Paoli Fire Company, where he also serves as Treasurer.
The Tredyffrin Township Board of Supervisors appointed John Emergency Management Coordinator of Tredyffrin Township in 2002. During his two-year position, John completely overhauled the township's Emergency Management web page, providing vital emergency response instruction to our residents. The site continues in use to this day.
Currently, John serves as Chairman of the Chester County Public Safety Training Center Task Force. He is charged with building the $30 million state-of-the art training facility for our County's first responders.
In 2007, John received the Chester County EMS Council's Meritorious Service Award and EMS Leadership Award for his years of hard work in developing the Public Safety Training Center and in making the Chester County Hero Fund a reality.
